Anyhow, I’m going to be wide open about this.

When I was starting out, I wasn’t a fan of “coaching.” I thought I could figure out everything myself, stay motivated and just dominate. I was skeptical to say the least.

Plus, I was a little, um, frugal. Money was tight. I was little (OK…more than a little) scared of investing in a coach.

So, I kept doing things myself. Sometimes things would work. Sometimes they didn’t. Sometimes I was highly motivated and in the zone. Other times, I felt like I was treading water. Building a biz online can also be lonely and it was tough not having someone I could trust to bounce ideas off of, hold me accountable, etc.

This all changed a few years ago when I hired my first coach. And honestly, I was freakin’ terrified. Would it really help? Was I wasting my money? Would my money be spent better elsewhere? Would I get results? Heck, would I be willing to be accountable to someone (nothing would be more embarrassing than saying I was going to get something done by next time we talked…and then not getting it done)?

I hired my coach, Elizabeth, for something really specific at the time. She was an expert coach I had a book launch to do at the end of 2010 and needed a little hand holding.

And let me tell you, she wasn’t cheap. But, that old adage is true…you get what you pay for.

We had weekly calls. We set goals. We set actionable items for me to accomplish. She was part organizer, part cheerleader, part psychiatrist.

The results? Let’s just say: HUGE. In two ways.

Way #1: The book launch was a massive success. I was organized, ready to roll, kept on track and crushed it. Because I’m an action-taker mixed with great coaching = win.

Way #2: My mind was completely changed on the coaching. Like I said, it was quite an investment for me at the time, but I felt strongly the results were 10X (if not more than what I paid). It saved me hours of tire kicking, wasting time, frustration and more.

Honestly, coaching isn’t for everyone. If you are scared of taking action, unable to meet deadlines, can’t take criticism, and/or are afraid to commit to something, then coaching isn’t for you.

If, on the other hand, you ARE motivated, ready to dominate, take action, are willing to take criticism and are willing to hold yourself accountable, coaching is definitely for you.

Which leads me to something important and something I rarely, rarely do and that is the opportunity for a few select folks to work with me 1-on-1 for 12 weeks.

It ain’t cheap. Like I said, I remember when I was first considering hiring a coach, it seemed pretty darn expensive to me.
