  • All this good information coming at me at once…! This is just what I needed TODAY, going to do a bit of location “shooting” soon (actually tomorrow) but in May as well. Awesome guest, David.

    • David Siteman Garland

Monica – AWESOME. Glad to be johnny-on-the-spot 🙂 And love your new title in your Disqus headline 🙂

  • Gregg Pechmann

Thanks David for this great interview. I ordered the the iphone microphone adapter. Do you have any suggestions for a lapel mic? really appreciate it….

    • David Siteman Garland

Awesome. I’ll let Jules answer that one as I’m not a lapel master 🙂

Hi Gregg, an economical wired option is the Audio Technica ATR 3350 (avail. on Amazon) Gives good sound for the price. Only downside is that the lead (which is nice and long) easily gets tangled like spaghetti 🙂

        • Gregg Pechmann

Thanks Jules, looking forward to the 2nd interview!

  • Haven’t watched your show in about 18 months I think. You sure look so different, but good.
Great show! I think people don’t realize the many things their iDevices can do. I’ve been using the Mic option Jules mentioned in my car for over a year, connected to my AUX jack and phone calls just sound amazingly good on both ends. It’s amazing that with that option people still use the built in speaker, that sounds crappy in comparison.I also have a tripod with zoom lens I got a while back and forgot all about. Now I found it again thanks to this show.

    • David Siteman Garland

Ronen – Wow 18 months?! Hah! Great to see you back.

  • Matthew G. Monroe

David: That was such a fun interview to watch!  Jules’ enthusiasm for his work is so absolutely contagious (he obviously loves his job) and the information he presents is top notch.  By the way, I’m loving your new  “Learn How To Do Cool Stuff” series, which this interview is such a natural offshoot of.

    • David Siteman Garland

MGM – Always amazing when you have a passionate expert teaching something really cool and useful. Re: the series, I’m glad you are loving it much more to come. For example, I’ve got a guy who is the master of cold emailing people. That is gonna be a good one.

  • This interview is AMAZING – I took so many notes and I have a giant wish list now of new things to buy.

    Thanks guys!

    • David Siteman Garland

Denise – YES! That’s what I love to hear!

      • Big thank you, Denise for sharing this with me! I already downloaded videolicious. Sweet!

        • David Siteman Garland

Hi Amber. Welcome to the site 🙂

  • I teach video filming and editing at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism, THIS EXACT subject is continuing to come up! AND the quality of some of our phone cameras is PERFECT for video filming. Also being able to do editing right on your phone makes it to where all of the tech excuses for making videos are pretty much out the window.
Thank you for another terrific interview and tips worth the price of admission!!

  • Shelia

Great, great interview. Love quick and applicable how to tips. Plan on sharing with my community as well. Thanks again!
