So, you want to be a consultant, do ya? It is no secret that consulting is a lucrative business. You get paid for your expert advice and ideas while helping others. For many passion-driven entrepreneurs (and personal brands), this is a dream come true…meaning DOING something and THEN teaching (or doing while teaching).

But, what are the pitfalls? What kinds of clients are fantastic and which ones are terrible? How do you delegate if you are a big personal brand and everyone wants YOUR time? Do you bill hourly or are there other (better options)?

Matt SitomerI was looking for some answers for all of us, so I tracked down Matt Sitomer, Chief of Staff at Vaynermedia.

Matt is someone that has an interesting story himself. He started as the assistant to former guest and friend of RISE, Gary Vaynerchuk (check out Gary Vaynerchuk’s interview on RISE) and is now is one of the head honchos at Vaynermedia, which is a consultant company that helps brands maximize new technology, social media, etc.

What separates Vaynermedia from the pack (besides Gary, of course) is that they have REALLY landed some amazing clients relatively early (the company is less than two years old). Including the NHL (check out this interview with Stephanie Bagley about how Vaynermedia is helping the coolest game on earth) and the New Jersey Nets.

In this interview, Matt discusses how Vaynermedia has evolved, landed clients, and continued to grow. It is a great story with all kinds of takeaways for your business.

What are your thoughts?

    Thanks David & Matt,

Love this episode, had no idea on how to get the big boiz as clients before listening πŸ˜‰

Anyway, before I head off and share this bad boi on Twitter, I wanted to share something…

We just launched a tool that enables bloggers to turn website traffic into new pay per minute consulting clients simply adding a line of code/Wordpress widget to their site.

And hence pick up consulting clients (albeit much smaller ones than the NHL!) when they otherwise would have missed out:

(And the best part? It’s free ;))

Would love any feedback you have πŸ™‚

    Talk soon,

David, check your inbox, just sent you over an interesting proposal!
