Alrighty, don’t worry. You don’t need to freak out or buy a pocket protector. I promise. Today on The Rise To The Top we are talking backends (and no not that kind of backend).

Now, I know you are a mediapreneur and that is why you tune in (duh). Mediapreneurs are peeps who create online media and are experts, authors, thought leaders, personal brands, coaches, Internet marketers, and/or information marketers. And you are here to grow your biz like a weed and dominate online.

One puzzle that can be complex is coming up with the perfect business model for YOU. That doesn’t have to involve charging dollars for hours. There are so many things you can do, like info products, membership sites, group coaching, events, and the list goes on.

But have you ever thought of software? Now, let’s not cue The Revenge of the Nerds music here. Seriously, don’t be scared by the thought. This isn’t like you are going to have to go out there and take 18 computer programming courses (you can have someone else do it for you…all you need is THE IDEA).

In today’s chat with the master of doing exactly that, Dane Maxwell, we discuss some tips for getting started and more importantly where/how to get that big idea.

Love to hear your thoughts in the comments section below

Oh and BTW – HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT coming next week in regards to a special secret project I’ve been working on for you in the last few months. You won’t want to miss it.

Great interview – love Dane – sorry he was sick :(, but good for him for sticking with it. I love the concept of building the backend. I have ideas, simply need to figure out how to see if they are viable. Thanks again, you rock.

    1. Dane Maxwell says:

Shelia, if you have ideas, chances are they might not be the best fit for a backend. Ask your customers what they want more of, what their pain is… then make that your backend.

  2. Guest says:

this is just a load of crappola lol j/k 🙂

    1. David Siteman Garland says:

      LOL Dane is the man!

  3. failedentrepreneur says:

Dane is going to start selling idea extraction as a service very soon.

    1. Dane Maxwell says:

Hrm… how would that work? Sounds sick! 🙂

    2. David Siteman Garland says:

      Great product idea!

  4. Dee Copeland Patience says:

Dane looks like he should be in bed! Ok, so I’ve listened to his Mixergy and Blogcast FM interviews. The cool thing is that he doesn’t come with the same old soundbites. He seems real-deal and provides information relevant to the particular audience, so the three interviews are all very good.

I’m about to launch my show (Ian, Natalie and Brad did an AWESOME job btw), so this made me rethink my monetization strategy. Mr. D, I’m there with you on the membership site hamster wheel analogy. Just not sure how software fits in right now, but I’m thinking about calling up some peeps in my target audience so I can have a system from the start. Be nice to have an offering that listeners can purchase if they feel it’s useful and want to support me.

    Opened my brain…..

    1. Dane Maxwell says:

Hi Dee, if you’re stuck thinking of software… you are not supposed to be doing that! Just ask your customers. The idea should not come from you. Ever.

      1. David Siteman Garland says:

Agree with Dane (and not just software) but any product. Growing those big ass ears are helpful to really listen and pay attention to what your customers want. Example: Create Awesome Interviews came about because I received 38848837273.8 emails from customers who had questions about doing their own interview show

  5. Why do I get the sense I’m stalking Dane? I think I’ve uncovered every interview I could find over the last few days. More, please!

    1. David Siteman Garland says:

Hah, nothing wrong with little good ole fashioned stalking 😉

  6. Matt Coffy says:

Again David, you are BRINGING it! Cannot wait to get the time into doing the Dane dance. Finding the problem and then pushing it out, SO KEY. We have so many target markets in our daily Internet Marketing business, its defining the problem correctly that is going to be the real 1st step.

  7. Peter Axtell says:

one of the all time best interviews. Dane has an unbelievable worldview. He clearly proves that love and compassion not only makes the world a better place…it’s also wildly profitable. Reinventing education!!! amazing motivation. I am a LOYAL fan. Thank you.
