Sooooooooooooo, some fun news. Always working on things behind the scenes to continue to evolve and create the best show for badass entrepreneurs like you. And would love some of your feedback on some cool stuff rolling out soon (i.e. VERY soon) for you, RISE Nation.

The basic idea is the show is going to be expanding into multiple segments-of-awesomeness (and of course there will continue to be conversations/interviews…duh).

Back in the day (not sure if y’all know this) I hosted a local radio show in St. Louis called, get ready for this, “Get Inline: Your Source For Professional Inline Hockey in St. Louis” on TEAM 1380 AM every Saturday. A big success point for the show was multiple segments. Segments included things like weekly shout-outs, interview of the week, game recaps, game previews, live call-ins, etc.

The point? I have some ideas for some segments and I want to hear YOUR ideas as well as we continue to evolve (leave ’em below in the comments)

Here are some of my thoughts (and not the actual names of the segments, obviously I’ll come up with a sexier name and not just call it “Book Review” LOL):

-Book Review Of The Week (a book badass entrepreneurs will enjoy)

-Q&A: I can set up a voicemail hotline and you can “call in” and leave a question and I can do a Q&A segment

-Cool Tools: A featured online biz tool to help you run your biz better

Have a creative/fun idea? Let me know in the comments 🙂

Love,

Uncle David

  • Hey David.

First off, thanks so much for all the great stuff you pump out. I’ve learned so much from your show. Here’s my suggestion: You have lots of great guests that have risen to the top and are now successful. But how about a literal rise to the top series where you interview a few people who have just begun to take their journey upwards. Talk about their daily challenges and what they are doing to move forward. Maybe have a few of your expert buddies give a little guidance and then check in with them and see how they’re doing as the “rise to the top.”

Kind of like a case study. I know I would love to hear how someone gets through those early challenges and growing pains as they go through it. Their fears, doubts and triumphs.

Just a suggestion. Whatever you do, I’m all in and can’t wait for what you have coming up.

Fenando, thanks for the feedback my man. My honest opinion is I want to continue with folks who are uber successful, but I might mix things up every now and then. Definitely a cool idea 🙂

  •  awesome stuff man.

As for one of the 3 options, i’d like insights on cool tools/trends

    • David Siteman Garland

Might not be an either or 🙂 But go tit.

Select a follower / graduate of “Rise” to highlight their business or  A fresh idea they may have that you think is worthy. It doesn’t need to be a lengthy plug or interview maybe a shout out with links etc….

    • David Siteman Garland

      Interesting idea

  • Hi, David. I’m in favor of Q&A, also book reviews (an idea I’ve been toying with for my show). Here’s one I didn’t see mentioned: product reviews and ratings that we netcasters have tried. You may not even need to do any more than host the space. You have already made your recommendations.  But some of us don’t use Mac… or new products come out, apps, etc that might help keep us netcasters in the loop, save us money and time, etc.

    • David Siteman Garland

Ah great idea, Rich. And not sure if you know this but I have a new site coming soon dedicated 100% to podcasting, web show hosts, online broadcasters, netcasters, etc. but for sure great idea

  • Chris

Do a 3 way show with you + guest + a rise viewer.  Include the rise viewer in the conversation so the guest is actually doing live Q&A.  This is voyeurism and “show, don’t tell” at it’s finest.  Can gotomeeting handle this?

    • David Siteman Garland

Chris – Fun idea. Might be a slightly logistical nightmare though lol (yes, gotomeeting can handle up to I believe 6)

  • Hi David,

I`d be interested in seeing some more interviews with Shopify store owners or the like, it would be cool to see behind the scenes of how they run their stores and any tips and advice they can share.
Another show I would LOVE to see is how you and other entrepreneurs got over the fear and just went for it. Ex. you do all the research, prepare and then when it comes to picking up the phone to call prospects or send that email you just freeze and procrastinate and never do it, eventhough you know you have nothing to lose, but you just get nervous and never end up taking the next step. I would love to know if say when you first went after sponsors for your own business if you had that `what am I doìng these people are going to think I am a fraud` kind of feeling and how you got over it to pick up the phone and call sponsors when you were just starting out. I think it would be great if you had a series about how entreprenneurs got over their fears and got the job done. And if you have any advice right now, that would be great too!

    🙂
