What do you do when someone asks you if they are the ‘right fit’ for your product/program…and they aren’t the right fit?

Inevitably, when you have an online product/program you are going to get questions about it in some form or fashion. And, more often than not, you are going get questions that are, in a nutshell, some version of: “Is your product/program right for me….here is my situation…”

This is a big lesson if you care about people (which, of course, you do), you want loyal customers (which, of course, you do), and you want to be in this biz for the long haul (which, of course, you do).

This happens to me all the time and I’ve got some tips for you on how to handle it like a pro (hint: it has to do with being completely, freaking honest with people). In today’s super quick DSG TV, I answer that question for you.

    Great video David. The key to success in business is to identify your ideal client and serve them as best you can. A lot of that is filtering through to finding ideal clients at any given time. Sometimes that means doing the right thing for a non-ideal client.

    thats the exact position I was in when I was thinking about launching an product (online course) of a somethng I already know but I didnt have a platform. So that got me thinking! boom! I need a platform. Since then Ive bought Create Awesome Interviews, and since watching that, I started going through some of your older shows and I watched one with you and Sam Silverstein where you were both speaking about not launching a product (a book), until you had gotten experience and results with what you wanted to share. That was huge for me because I hadnt tested coaching program so since then Ive lined up 2 coaching sessions, already had 1 and Im getting that “experience” feedback to help me know that what I want to put out there is going to be awesome and something of real value. Super excited to get my online community up soon and start pumping out videos and getting the guests awn!

    you have to make it possible for them to access your course if you think it fits. thats your goal and you will profit from it in the long term certainly

    AGREED! Honesty creates trust even if it means you have to turn someone away. If you understand your customer really well and know “where” they are in their business and in their mindset you should be speaking into these situations in your brand messaging so people can easily decide themselves if it’s a good fit for them or not.
