So, I’ve been getting a bazillion (rounded up a little) emails, Tweets, Facebook messages, comments, phone calls, etc. wanting to know a bit more about the book (Smarter, Faster, Cheaper: Non-Boring, Fluff-free Strategies for Marketing and Promoting Your Business) which is hitting shelves this December.

First of all, I’m insanely (I mean INSANELY) humbled by the response already and all the notes I’m receiving about how many of you have pre-ordered. It means so much
to me that you actually care and I promise to deliver something you are going to really love and also get a TON of actionable use out of…or I will cry myself to sleep in shame.

I’m a bundle of excited nerves as the book is just a couple of months away from literally shipping.

What I promised when I announced the book this past April on my birthday was this:

  1. It won’t be boring.
  2. We are in this together (while there are personal stories in the book, Smarter, Faster, Cheaper isn’t about me…it is about helping you).
  3. BS jargon bullshit and theory will not be found anywhere in the book.
  4. I’m putting 100% effort into this. No ghostwriter. No dictating. I’m getting down and dirty and pouring everything I have into it.
  5. Behind-the-scenes content for you (like this post).

And what good is a promise if I can’t keep it?

So as the book literally heads off to the publisher’s printer, here are a few FAQ I’ve been receiving and I’ll make sure to answer more as they come in.

#1: What is the book about?

Here is the deal. There has never been a better opportunity for hustling, passionate entrepreneurs like us to market and promote our businesses and ourselves. The big brands (Goliaths) with tons of money and a board of 54358586 lawyers used to have the advantage. Now we (the Davids) have the advantage because the Internet has
democratized the opportunity (thank you Internet!) and now creativity, personality, drive, authenticity and transparency (things you already possess) are the new advantage.

The book is designed to be a map and compass for maximizing this opportunity to become a trusted resource (as opposed to a product pusher…because nobody likes a
sketchy product pusher…yuck).

And the strategies and big ideas don’t come just from throwing mama’s spaghetti at the wall. They come from takeaways and insights from (the best of) over 150 interviews with some of the most unique, trusted resources in the world (list coming soon…these folks freaking rock), thousands of conversations with innovators, and my own personal experience of taking The Rise To The Top from 0 to 100,000 viewers a month in less than two years, as well as six figures in profit.

#2: When is the book coming out?

So, I just talked with my publisher, Wiley, and here is the update. On December 7th the book ships to major retailers everywhere. This means Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Borders and many others (online and off).

It might be out (meaning in your hands) as early as December 8th, or as late as December 13th.

Either way, it will beat receiving socks for Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or whatever holiday you celebrate.

#3: “I saw on Amazon there are some early reviews and kind words from folks such as Seth Godin, Daniel Pink, Chris Brogan, Tony Hsieh, Brian Solis, David Meerman Scott and John Jantsch. Have they already read the book? Did you bribe them with kittens and presents to write nice things about the book?”

First of all, I sent all of them a pre-review copy along with a black bag filled with kittens. Just kidding…or am I?

The neat thing about all seven of the these fellas is they have great integrity. I reached out to them about the book early on and asked if they would take a look at my rough
draft. If they liked it, I’d LOVE a quote to put on the book. Of course, no pressure if they didn’t like it (nor would I want anyone to give a quote if they are uncomfortable with it or didn’t read it).

Honestly, I was pretty nervous sending it to these seven heavy hitters. They all wanted to read the whole thing (which I appreciate) and I was fortunate that all seven sent back some love for the book…before they cashed my bribe (just kidding…*wink*).

#4: Will the book be available for Kindle, iBooks, audio book and all that other cool stuff?

I believe so. I’m not sure if it will be day number one when it comes out. But, as you know, I’m a big fan of delivering content when, where and how you want it…so this will
definitely be happening.

#5: I’m a blogger or have a show and want to review the book or interview you, how should I go about it?

Shoot me an email to David AT, and we can set it up. It would be awesome if we could do it closer to the release, but I’d love to schedule it now.
