Thank you for the “Wake Up” call my dude. I was thinking about this issue the other day. I do find myself too consumed with note-taking, reading, and getting caught up w/ too much online content. I love to learn but do feel we need to check ourselves and realize the work is much more important. Self-awareness is key and understanding that mistakes are permissible during the process. Thank you again for this video. It’s exactly what I needed to hear. Inspire on and 1ove my man!

    1. David Siteman Garland says:

Boom 🙂 Check yourself before you w.w.w.wreck yourself. Forgot what song that is from hah

  2. Holy Crap. Hello, my name is Jill and I am a Serial Learner AND a Serial Attender – now do I have to do a 24 step program instead of just 12? One of my friends and I were just scratching at the surface of this ‘bottom line” conversation this morning! And then you show up in my inbox, David, for my Monday moment with DSG -BOOM. Thanks David!

    1. David Siteman Garland says:

haha step one is all about admitting the problem 🙂

  3. Lisa Shaughnessy says:

Ahhhh….you described me perfectly how I was about 6 months ago. I finally forced myself to quit cold-turkey haha and did nothing but work on my biz and my clients’ projects.

My “aha” moment? When I realized I was learning more by doing than by taking courses or reading a bajillion blogs! Soooo liberating and *much* more productive 🙂

Now I just use a few small informal networking groups of fellow ‘treps to help grow my biz.

    1. David Siteman Garland says:

Awesome, Lisa. And courses rock…only if you implement. For example, I took Ryan Lee’s 1k per day and followed it exactly. Shut everything else off. Guess what? Big results.

  4. Stephen Lahey says:

More focus, manageable scope, take action. Good advice as always, David. BTW, I found your ‘Create Awesome Interviews’ course to be a great (or should I say “Awesome”?) resource, and my new podcast is launching tomorrow (! Thanks again!

    1. David Siteman Garland says:

Very cool and it is launching because you learned —> took action. Good luck!

      1. Stephen Lahey says:

        Thanks, that I appreciate it!

  5. mikky says:

    Hi David!

I am a CEREAL ( 😉 ) LEARNER!! Ack! I don’t have 50 courses but I do have a few. You nailed me on the head 100%. I knew that I was doing this but it’s hard to stop being that way. Thanks for the great tips, I’m going to follow them. This was the best DSG tv episcode ever!!
So who are your 2 mentors biz wise?

    1. David Siteman Garland says:

Ryan Lee is one of my top mentors/good friends. In fact, we are working on something together 🙂

      1. mikky says:

        Cool 🙂

  6. I agree and get overwhelmed all the time because I want to do too much and I’ll never be ready if I wait to get it perfect.

The good thing about the courses is that I found some cool communities. For instance, James Wedmore’s Video Traffic Academy group helps me when I get stuck on video stuff. The Create Awesome Interviews Peeps are my home team for monetizing my show and my real-deal community is Corbett Barr’s Fizzle, which is where I give back to upcoming show hosts and also steal podcast show ideas from their questions.

AND…my show launches next week, so I’ve kept my promise to you and the CAI peeps to launch come hell or high water.

  7. Information overload. It’s what most people fall into when they’re too smart.
